Why We Rebuilt Our Own Website (And What It Says About How We'd Build Yours)

DRAFT FOR CLIENT REVIEW. This is a working sample post that demonstrates the blog system. Edit freely or delete before launch.

Our old website had a problem we see in client audits every month: it looked fine and performed badly. Google was showing it to plenty of people, but our average position was buried so deep that almost nobody clicked. If a client brought us those numbers, we would tell them the truth: the site is not doing its job.

So we followed our own advice and rebuilt from scratch.

What we changed

We stopped preserving and started targeting. The old site had pages that existed because they had always existed. The new one has pages that exist because a real search justifies them. Every page targets a specific keyword we verified with actual data, from "web design Charleston SC" on the homepage to neighborhood-level terms on our location pages.

We made speed non-negotiable. The new site is built so that nearly every page is prepared in advance and served instantly, with almost no code shipped to your phone that doesn't need to be there. Speed is a ranking factor, but more importantly it is a respect factor.

We wrote like we talk. No agency filler, no "synergizing your digital presence." If a sentence would sound ridiculous said out loud across a counter on East Bay Street, it didn't go in.

We kept every old URL alive. Every address from the old site now points permanently at its new home, because rankings and bookmarks are earned assets and throwing them away is malpractice.

What this means for your site

The same playbook works for a restaurant, a law firm, or an HVAC company: target real searches, load instantly, sound like a human, and never break what already works. That is the whole method, and this site is the proof we run on it ourselves.
